Pakistan Basmati FOB Again Surpassed the Indian Basmati Price


Pakistan Basmati FOB in the month of March was again surpassed the Indian basmati rice FOB by 7.32%. Currently Indian FOB is hovering in the range of USD 910-912/MT where as Pakistan basmati FOB is USD 985/MT as per latest data given by FAO. On the other hand Pakistan rice production as per by FAO estimates Pakistan's 2014 paddy rice production at about 10.1 million tons (about 6.85 million tons, basis milled), down about 1% from about 10.19 million tons (about 6.93 million tons, basis milled) produced in 2013, due to localized crop damages in some eastern parts of Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), following floods in September and drought in south-eastern parts of Sindh province, whereas according to Agriwatch survey report, Production of basmati rice (all varieties combined) has increased by nearly 20.5% in Kharif season 2014 as compared to the previous year. The total production of all basmati is expected to be around 7.3 million tonnes in 2014-15 as compared to 6.07 million tonnes in 2013-14. Currently Indian Basmati FOB is more competitor than Pakistan basmati international price. (Agriwatch)
